In the midst of a pandemic, Cramer partnered with Robotic Surgery Collaboration to take their annual conference online.

Robotic Surgery Collaboration, in partnership with Intuitive Surgical, was going over the final details to ready themselves for an upcoming live event, until COVID-19 changed everything overnight.

The pandemic meant an immediate cancellation of the planned live event, but with such important content still needing to be distributed, those behind the Collaboration knew they were in dire need of an alternative.

They called Cramer, and — in 9 days— we were able to help them transition their entire program from a live format to a fully virtual experience—reworking the event’s agenda, designing and building new sets, and establishing a secure broadcast platform that could transmit throughout the globe.

Getting interactive in a virtual space

The two-day virtual event was shot in Cramer’s in-house studio and then broadcast out to a private group of over 10,000 general surgeons and robotic industry professionals. The footage combined a pre-recorded surgical presentation and demos. To add an element of interactivity, the pre-recorded segments were seamlessly integrated with a live Q&A featuring a panel of surgeons beaming in from 27 remote locations. Once the event had ended, all content was immediately made available for private, on-demand viewing to ensure attendees could rewatch any segments they wanted. Those who couldn’t join then had access to all they missed.

Solving remote networking

Capturing and distributing engaging, informative content was always the main focus of Robotic Surgery Collaboration but providing attendees with networking opportunities was also key. However, in light of unexpected travel bans and sudden calls for social distancing, creating networking situations required some innovative thinking. To help, Cramer provided an interactive platform, allowing attendees to share content, ask questions, and generally engage with fellow members to create a sense of community and closeness from afar.
